LAST EVENING
I have had lower back (L5 spine) pain since June and doing physical therapy and had 3 steroids injections in the area. The pain was pretty bad yesterday afternoon so I went to the gym and did 40 minutes on the treadmill followed by my therapy exercises. That helped (along with my Manhattans later at cocktail hour). So far not much pain this morning.
Just before my workout I went to see Daniela Acosta, the Cruise Consultant. I wanted to have her change our suite location on one of our booked 2025 cruises. We have known Daniela for a long time. She is a very lovely lady as you can see. She stopped to say hi this morning as I was working on this blog post so got a photo of her. Once again cocktail hour in Meridian Lounge at 6pm. We had requested these jalapeno poppers the day before.
My Makers Mark Manhattan and Rebecca had her La Crema chardonnay. The lounge entertainment this evening was 4 members of the orchestra and the sax player was too loud so we left after they cranked up at 6:30. We don't like loud cocktail hour music.
We arrived at Compass Rose earlier than normal to finish our cocktails there. We asked to have Joseph as our waiter. The have these Versace place setting starters but remove them before any food comes except for a bread basket.My Makers Mark Manhattan and Rebecca had her La Crema chardonnay. We both enjoyed our La Crema with dinner. To start with I really enjoyed a double order of the goose/chicken pate at Joseph's recommendation.
Rebecca had the spinach salad. One of her favorites. This is the panko coated shrimp I had requested that morning for our entrees, Accompanied by my baked potato and some creamed spinach. We didn't complain but the shrimp were a little overcooked.
For dessert I had the apple strudel but had them add the two scoops of vanilla ice cream. I was at the door and first one in the theater when the doors were opened at 9pm for the 9:30 production show, "Icons". It is a new show on a Regent ship. Refreshing, as had seen their other shows many times on other cruises.

The production cast were all very talented.
We were both very irritated with 4 people sitting 2 rows on other side of the isle from us. They talked during the whole show. After the show I told them we did not appreciate their talking during the show. SOOOO rude!
TODAY
The past couple of mornings I come here to the Coffee Connection and get Rebecca two cups of double shot Americano coffees and take them back the the suite for her. I then return and sit at this table (where my laptop it) as lots of the ship's staff come here for their morning coffees. So I get to say hi to them. I work on my blog here. I spent 3 hours this morning working on this post.
Gennaro, on the left, is the barrista. Kadek and Jacee are his helpers. Gennaro is very Italian, Jacee is Philipino, and Kadek is Indonesian from Bali.

Rebecca had hit the treadmill this morning while I was working on this. I will try to do my treadmill time and therapy exercises this afternoon.
This is our position at noon today a little more than half way to Funchal where we shall be docked tomorrow. It is 66 degrees outside today but seems cooler with the wind.
We went up to La Veranda for lunch and sat at a side-facing table for two like yesterday. We enjoyed the view. Smooth sailing again, ever since Barcelona. They were having a "seafood extravaganza" out at the pool grill area today. I opted for some shrimp and smoked salmon off the buffet inside however.I did order some lobster nachos from the pool grill which they brought in to our table. First time I had tried the nachos. No lobster pieces but the sauce was a lobster sauce. Very good!!
I had booked a 7 1/2 tour for tomorrow when we are docked at Funchal on the island of Madeira which is a Portuguese island. We have been here a few times already. The tour was spent riding in a bus for nearly 4 hours during the tour so I canceled it. Saw Marcia Rector this morning and she was going to do a 6 1/2 hour chef led culinary & lunch tour. So I managed to get a ticket to do it also. Looks like fun. Rebecca not doing it. Photos of it and description tomorrow if I have time after returning at 4pm. May be on the following day as we have 5 seas to follow Funchal.
This evening at 6pm will be the "ship-wide block party". This is an exclusive to all Regent ships. A bell is rang from the bridge to signal for everyone to come out of their suites with a wine glass to meet and socialize with their neighbors. The stewards/stewardesses will serve wine and canapes. Meanwhile the Captain, GM, and cruise director will pass through all the hallways greeting everyone.
Some of the orchestra members playing in Meridian Lounge again this evening so we will go up to the Observation Lounge for cocktails. Pianist up there and not as loud. Dinner to follow in Compass Rose again. There is a comedian in the theater at 9:30 so we will probably not go.
