Traveling to Dallas

Our journey begins today, Monday, November 20th.  Bags have been packed for two days so got them loaded in our Prius.  We drove to the Durango airport (DRO) arriving 2 hours before departure.  I dropped our luggage and Rebecca near the ticket counter and drove about 15 minutes to our old neighbors new home.  They graciously let me leave the car there and Melissa drove me back to the airport.
Back at the airport and "priority" check luggage line was empty so bags checked quickly.  No line at TSA either but an agent had to search one of Rebecca's carry-on bags.  He opened EVERYTHING!  Found nothing but Rebecca NOT happy as had to repack it.
Arrived at the gate an hour early and flight to Phoenix was just boarding.  That helped clear room for us as our flight was destined to DFW (Dallas).  The inbound plane landed 40 minutes early but had a mechanical issue.  Instead of departing at 12:38 as scheduled we left an hour later.  Again, this is why we go a day or two early.
This is our American Eagle regional jet.  It was full.  Now I was hoping they had loaded our checked luggage!
Seated in the second row of first class as we taxied out for takeoff.  Note my pin on jacket.  It is an American Airlines pin with 3 diamonds signifying my 30 years with the airline.
Our awesome, long time friends, Kaye & Carl Hill (Rebecca and Kaye flew MANY trips together as flight attendants back in the day) were right there to pick us up at DFW.  We are spending two nights with them.
We picked up some Tex-Mex for dinner on the way back to their lovely home.  Then we watched the Monday Night Football game.  We were all cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs to beat the Philadelphia Eagles.  Eagles ended up winning.  We're all big Dallas Cowboys fans and the Eagles are their arch rival.  Some of you know I flew the Cowboys team from 1991 to 1996 when they won 3 Super Bowls.  They chartered American Airlines and the chief pilot at DFW assigned me to fly the team.  Quite an honor!
