LAST EVENING
Watching the sun set from the Observation Lounge. We were joined by Marcia, Barbara, and her daughter, Lisa. After a Grey Goose martini we headed to Sette Mari for dinner. It opens at 6:30 and we wanted to be there then to make sure we got a table.
We started with some prosecco then some La Crema chardonnay. I had this Chilean carmenere with my veal parmesan. We both started with some minestrone soup. It is always very good.
April is grating some parmesan cheese on the soup.
Our waiter was Juniartha. He said to call him Jun.Oh, my God!!! This is the veal parmesan I had requested special as it was not on the menu last night. This bone-in veal chop was HUGE. Also thicker than normal. It was enough for at least 3 people.
I had to stop here. I was stuffed and hated to leave the rest of this. It was so good and the chef prepared it exactly like I wanted it. I had shown him a photo of the way I like it earlier.
Serkan, Sette Mari maitre d.
The crew hard at work. We had finished dinner early so were at the theater doors waiting when they opened at 9:00. We grabbed out usual seats. On the way to the theater I had stopped at the Meridian Lounge to get a "Happy Happy" after dinner drink. I had brought the recipe for it with me. The bartender took a photo of it. Ok, I finally got a photo of Jimbo and Mary Ann Todd who we had dinner with the night before. They are Commodores (over 2000 nights) and we have cruised and known them for several years. Super nice couple from Tulsa.
Isabel is a lovely young lady from Holland. Great voice and she sang several opera songs last night. Her voice has a very high range.
Back in the suite by 10:30 and I hit the hay immediately. Think it was 12:30 before Rebecca came to bed. We gained another hour's sleep due to setting clock back again last night.
TODAY
Our noon position is finally approaching Bermuda after 7 days at sea. We will be docking around
11:00am at the Royal Navy Dockyards tomorrow. It is 72 degrees under cloudy skies now. It was sunny earlier this morning so I finally got some photos of the sports deck. I then returned and did my fast walk for 50 minutes on the track. I did 22 laps but not sure of the distance of a lap.
Views of pool deck (Deck 11) from the sports deck (Deck 12). Looking forward on Deck 12. On Grandeur you cannot walk to the bow for viewing like on other ships.
Shuffle board
Paddle tennis or pickle ball court at very back of Deck 12.
Lawn ball
Cornhole
Deck chairs on both sides of deck 12. The jogging track here also.
This is at back of the ship on deck 11 outside of La Veranda. So you can dine inside or outside.
There is a covered area out of the sun and wind just forward of La Veranda and prior to pool grill area.
More deck chairs next to the pool on deck 11.
Pool bar
I then went down to Deck 3 forward where the Medical Center is located.
Inside medical center. We decided to have lunch in Prime 7 today. This is the lunch menu.
I started with the chicken quesadilla. It was enough for lunch but I had already ordered something else
I had the seafood platter but with only shrimp.
After lunch Rebecca decided to do some laundry. She does not trust the ship's laundry service so uses the free launderette. The machines were very complicated so I had to go help her decipher the instructions.
We have been invited by Stephane, the Food & Beverage Director, for a special tour of the Compass Rose galley. We are to meet him and a few others at 4:30 this afternoon. I will post those photos tomorrow.
My lower back (L5) is killing me if I move in a certain way (like bend over). I had to take a Motrin. This is getting worse instead of better. I have a follow up with back doctor the morning after we return home. Something has to be done!
At 6:00 this evening there is a "Top Tier" Seven Seas Society cocktail party in the theater. We will be meeting Dan & Jane Hoefflin after it for dinner in Compass Rose.
The show tonight is "Broadway Unplugged" and will feature the production cast vocalists. It should be good.
At noon the Captain said we may have some rough seas again tonight as we approach Bermuda. Thunderstorms and wind in forecast there this afternoon and tonight.
