DAY 12---SECOND DAY IN BERMUDA

 LAST EVENING

We sat in our usual seats for Linda's show.  We have seen her shows several times and earlier this year on our world cruise.
Linda is an amazing pianist and knows over 2000 songs and plays without music.  Their was also a camera of keyboard so we could see how fast her fingers moved.

Playing "Phantom of the Opera" number.  Incredible!!
Taking a well deserved bow at end of her show.
Eshwar was the bartender at the little bar at the entrance to Prime 7.  We had a drink here before our 7pm reservation.
I had picked this table at noon for its great location.  Loved it.
                                                              Pepe was our waiter tonight.
Donn was our sommelier.  This Cline Ancient Vines zinfandel was one of the house wines.  Glad I selected it as was a big, bold red and went well with my filet.
Surprisingly, Prime 7 was not that busy.
We both started with a crab cake.  They are soooo good.
I then had this Vidalia onion soup.
Once again I had them bring out our filets so I could season them with Lawry's lemon pepper before grilling.
My filet cooked to a perfect medium rare.  We both thought our filets were the BEST ever on a Regent cruise.
                                                           I highly recommend this wine.
                                                        Some sweets before dessert.
There are 4 desserts to select from:  a piece of 14 layer chocolate cake;  Key lime pie;  bread pudding;  and this popcorn sundae.  I love them all but the sundae won out.
Natasha, maitre'd, brought out the chef so we could thank him.

TODAY

Grandeur is preparing for arriving in the US with a probable inspection by the US Coast Guard of how well the ship is prepared for an emergency and how well the crew has been trained.  This morning there was a full scale general crew drill.  It lasted for 45 minutes with crew simulating taking guests to life boats followed by the crew going to their life rafts.  It concluded with the Captain's PA--"Abandon Ship, Abandon Ship, Abandon Ship".  Only the Captain can make that PA in an actual emergency requiring the ship to be abandoned.  This is the first time we have heard this final PA at a drill but I was told they do it occasionally.
Not sure why but there is no tv channels working today.  News channels were breaking up yesterday.  They say tv service will be back after we sail this afternoon.  There are certainly nothing high enough on Bermuda to block the satellite antennas on top of the ship.  Must be the "Bermuda Triangle"!!  At least the internet is working fine.
Rebecca did her treadmill time this morning.  I am giving my back a break to see if I have less pain in afternoons.  We are not getting off the ship today.
My lunch in La Veranda started with some white bean soup.  Delicious and hot.  Soups on Grandeur have always been hot.  I cannot say that about some other ships, ie, Mariner.
Shrimp, smoked salmon, anchovies, and a deviled egg.
I had some spaghetti bolognese.  Had to send the first order back as the spaghetti was not cooked enough for me.  Second try was superb.  Not pictured but I grabbed a slice of pizza from the pool grill to wash every thing down.  The pizza crust is excellent.
The Captain made his departure PA into the suites as well as rest the public areas at 2:30 to inform us that we can expect some very rough seas until around noon tomorrow.  He said it should start to smooth out in the afternoon.  Armed with that info, I put a half of a scopolamine patch on behind my ear.  Hope this one does not come off on my pillow again.
So we sailed from Bermuda at 3:00 and will be at sea until we arrive in Miami on Saturday morning.
This evening we will have our cocktail hour up in the Observation Lounge before going down to Compass Rose at 7pm for dinner.  Tonight's show will feature the vocalist, Jesse Hamilton Jr.  This is a new entertainer for us.  His singing style ranges from R&B to rock and jazz to gospel.  We're looking forward to his show.
